Information Systems Department

Weatherhead's Information Systems Department--one of the leading in the world--focuses on the design and operation of information environments in order to understand how they may become humanly satisfying and socially beneficial.

The Department, which received an overall top 20 ranking in 2007 by U.S. News & World Report and is ranked first in its strategic priority of Managing as Designing, is characterized by an outstanding faculty who is active in research, and is known for attracting innovative PhD students.

This international acclaim is further propagated as the IS Department is a regular recipient of National Science Foundation awards for its studies of distributed innovation in the architecture, engineering, and construction industries.

Our faculty hold important editorships, including the prestigious journal JAIS and are responsible for the design of new visual representations for management including Theory Garden and Business Animator.

The IS Department is characterized by a unique mission and values that afford us significant external funding and the ability to host paradigm setting conferences.
