In Academic Entrepreneurship: University Spinoffs and Wealth Creation, Scott Shane explains the formation of university spinoffs and their role in the commercialization of university technology and wealth creation. Shane discusses the importance of university spinoff activity and their historical development is traced over time. Shane analyzes the factors of their activity, the process in which they introduce goods and services to the market, and details the effect that they have on the institutions that spawn them.

Economic Development through Entrepreneurship: Government, University and Business Linkages examines the role that universities play in promoting economic development through entrepreneurship. The book focuses on policy aspects of government-university partnerships with a discussion of both best practices and problematic strategies.
