Gregory A. Jonas, PhD CMA has degrees focused on accountancy (BBA and PhD) in addition to an MBA (Finance). Prior to earning his doctoral degree, Gregory worked in industry for over twenty years in roles ranging from cost accountant to CEO. His industry experience includes work with closely held corporations, acquisitions, and company turnarounds. His two research streams are: (1) the antecedents and consequences of corporate disclosures, and (2) factors associated with the development of accounting scholars. He is a certified management accountant (CMA) and serves as the Chair of the committee on academic research for the research foundation of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). His current teaching focuses on financial statement analysis and accounting for MBAs.

Interests and Courses

Research

The focus is in two research streams: (1) the antecedents and consequences of corporate disclosures, and (2) factors associated with the development of accounting scholars

Executive compensation, restatements, proforma metrics are a few of the key areas with ongoing activity and interest. The second area is the social organization of accounting as it affects learning and curriculum matters, including the development of scholars and practitioners in accounting.
