Measurement is a critical component of any management system.  Most managers recognize its vital role in communicating, motivating and tracking the achievement of an organization’s strategy.  Despite this recognition, most managers and organizations focus on financial indicators.  How can a manager create a more “balanced” view of his or her organization’s performance?  What types of measures help employees work together toward common goals, rather than taking a narrow view of just their own job or department?  How can measurement help employees better understand strategy, and deliver results?  Through a series of hands-on exercises and activities, learn how to leverage the Balanced Scorecard to better measure and manage performance.

Topics

  • Overview of the Balanced Scorecard
  • Linking department strategy with overall corporate strategies
  • Reviewing current company metrics
  • Identifying new measures to “preview” performance
  • Communicating the business through performance metrics

Learning Outcomes
As a result of attending this class, participants will be able to:

  • Identify linking strategies and key processes within their departments
  • Define metrics and measurements which show a “balanced” picture of performance
  • Understand how strategies and goals can be communicated as performance targets
  • Better measure what is happening in their businesses
