Kathy Overbeke

Kathy is an experienced coach who aims to help executives strengthen or reinvigorate their sense of personal and professional purpose and mission. Her specialty is in family business generational transitions.

Dr. Kathy Overbeke helps individuals build their skills and strengths while augmenting emotional and social intelligence competencies that help achieve sustainable change and increase productivity.

After 20 years of experience in founding and developing businesses, several years as an educator and community leader, and recently graduating from Weatherhead’s Doctor of Management (DM) program, Kathy brings the perspective of a Practitioner/Scholar to executive coaching. Her focus is on combining theory with practice, using a finely articulated personal vision statement to guide everyday interactions and objectives.

While a doctoral candidate, Kathy studied with Richard Boyatzis and Diana Bilimoria, world renowned authorities in leadership, emotional and social intelligence, and organizational change research. Kathy continues to work with them on research projects, particularly relating to the intense relationship between family and business in family owned firms. She brings insights from this research to individuals in non-family owned firms who may also experience work-family issues.

Prior to receiving her DM at CWRU, Kathy earned an M.S. in Education from Indiana University and a B.A. in American Studies from George Washington University. She is certified by The Hay Group to administer and interpret the Emotional and Social Competence Inventory (ESCI).

Kathy has two grown children and lives in Orange Village with her husand.
