Harlow Cohen has over 30 years of experience in a variety of consulting, senior management, and educational roles. He remains actively involved in both academics & business. Harlow is a Professor for the Practice of Organizational Behavior and is the Faculty Director for the Master of Science Program in Positive Organization Development & Change. In addition, he has been a faculty coach for the MBA Action Learning Program, and is certified in the Emotional Competency Inventory (ECI & ESCI); and is a certified coach in developing leadership through emotional intelligence.
Prior to joining Case Western Reserve University, he was the president of Integrated Profit Solutions, a change management consulting firm specializing in translating strategies & goals into action & results, facilitating strategic thinking & planning, and coaching & developing leaders & high potential talent. Harlow was also a senior consultant and project manager for Robert H. Schaffer and Associates; Vice President of Organization Planning and Development for Ameritrust Company, N.A.; Senior Vice President of Operations and Administration for Boykin Management Company; and Director of Human Resources for Cole National Corporation and Cole Consumer Products.
His prior consulting assignments span a broad range of clients in a variety of industries. Examples include TRW, Allied Signal, Ford, Schuller/Manville, Navistar, Mohawk Industries, Sherwin Williams, Dekko International, ASC Incorporated, Ricerca, Inc., National City Corporation, Cole Vision, Demag Plastics Group, Utilimaster Company, Jac Products, Preformed Line Products, Eagle-Picher, PolyOne, Hitachi, The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc; The Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation; and many others.
Harlow holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Case Western Reserve University, and a Master of Science degree in Organization Development and Analysis also from CWRU.
His written work has been published in the Academy of Management Executive, Advanced Management Journal, Human Resource Professional, Cases in Organizational Development, and Cornell Quarterly on a range of topics that include generating bottom line results, identifying and developing managerial high performers, tapping into an organization’s hidden potential, maximizing the contributions of human resource professionals, and a chapter on enhancing team effectiveness. More recently, he published a book entitled, The Dinosaur in the Living Room: Achieving Positive Change by Tackling the Obvious.
