Testimonials
"The words that best describe the EDM Program and its students are passion, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to making a difference in the world of practice. I chose the program at this point in my life as a way to transform my experience into meaningful improvement in management practice beyond the limited domain of my organization. Seasoned executives interact with world class faculty with a shared sense of making a difference by applying the rigor of scholarly research to issues in management practice. The Program offers an uncompromising doctoral educational experience which provides the skills necessary to contribute to managerial scholarship while at the same time broadening your practitioner perspective. The quality of the program is evidenced by the fact that a substantial number of students present papers at academic conferences while enrolled in the program. For those who want to make a difference, the EDM Program is a transformational experience that equips you to make a lasting contribution."

"For me, being an EDM/Mandel Center Nonprofit Fellow in the Weatherhead EDM Program is somewhat akin to passing through an intellectual ‘spa’ every three weeks! There’s a steady diet of challenging reading materials, the inevitable mandatory routine exercise drills of meetings and reporting, and the convivial exchange about life partners, children, work conflicts, and travel travails among colleagues who, like you, have paid to be ‘challenged’ in this manner. However, like a spa, there is also the triumph of the ‘weigh-in’: that moment, when you get on the PowerPoint scale in front of the group and proudly show off what you have managed to accomplish as you continue to journey toward that place of becoming an accomplished practitioner/scholar. It’s the results, coupled with the euphoria that sometimes arises at 3:00 am in the morning as you finally get that quantitative model to work, that makes you know you made the right decision."

"Interdisciplinary, fast-paced, demanding, stimulating – these are all attributes appropriately applied to the EDM Program. It offers the opportunity to change the way you think and approach complex questions and issues. As a busy consultant, my work has been significantly enriched by the linking of theory to practical issues and the exploration of global issues with a cohort of diverse talented senior leaders under the guidance of a gifted and experienced group of faculty. While the workload is weighty, the regular residencies and the excitement of the learning and personal growth journey, help maintain momentum. The opportunity through my research journey to explore issues of social change in a structured and rigorous way has been both personally satisfying and rewarding, particularly in the light of initial feedback from the community as to the usefulness of the findings. Without question, the benefits of this program are enormous at the personal level - which is then reflected in higher professional achievement and community contribution."

"During the journey for my EDM degree I will log over half a million miles in airplanes and thousands of pages in uncharted subjects (for an engineer like myself) in the social sciences. I look at this journey and cannot believe what we have accomplished (even though I am still not out of the gates) as a class. Learning tools, which allow me to generate original work, based on grounded theory, qualitative and quantitative methodologies have opened new fields for me to harvest in the future. I know I will enjoy the destination as much as the journey itself. I cannot thank enough the faculty for allowing me to take part in this fantastic once in a lifetime journey."

"Besides offering an excellent opportunity for networking with highly successful practitioners from very interesting and diverse backgrounds, the EDM Program provides a unique learning experience that marries theory and practice in a refreshing value added way. It stretches and challenges long held practices and beliefs. It is impossible to participate in the EDM Program and remain the same. The exposure to research and theory building provides a remarkable opportunity to test and share beliefs I have held close to my heart over the years. The possibility that these beliefs or parts of them may be validated by field work, giving me the opportunity to contribute to existing theory, is for me the highlight of the course. It is a program worth the effort, time and money. I would recommend this program for any serious forward looking practitioner who wants to make a difference."

"I love learning the application of theory to practice. The EDM Program is a community of like minded people who gather as colleagues in a concentrated program of rigorous study, research, writing and discussion. While demanding, one can not help but be rewarded in the further development of their professional skills and abilities.
EDM will change the way you think, research and apply theory to practice. More importantly, it will change the way you see and act in the business and social worlds in which you live. Don't come to a major research institution like the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University just to earn a doctorate degree from a prestigious university. Accept the challenge of EDM and come so you may have the thrill and benefit of changing your life."

"The Executive Doctor of Management Program is an exciting, unique opportunity to enter into the realm of practitioner scholarship. Where formerly the two divergent worlds, or cultures, of the academic scholar and hands-on practitioner rarely dialogued or collaborated, a new genre of bicultural experts is emerging. Seasoned for profit and non-profit executives are selected, introduced and trained in theoretical concepts through renown academicians and then challenged to produce rigorous, high quality research that is both functional and useable by both the scholarly world as well as the business sector. Consequently through a carefully designed curriculum men and women are made able to communicate and function in both worlds successfully. Thus is the essence of the EDM Program. As a graduate (2003), and now the Executive-In-Residence, I recognize the sophisticated level of candidates admitted to our program and more deeply appreciate the high level of commitment and dedication of the faculty and staff that make such a rare experience possible."
