BS in Accounting

Weatherhead’s Accounting program is among the finest in the country. Accounting majors enjoy close contact with our outstanding faculty and are recruited heavily by Big Four accounting firms, local and regional firms, financial institutions, consulting firms, and various Fortune 500 companies.

In addition to the BS in Accounting, Weatherhead offers two accelerated tracks known as our Integrated Study programs. These two programs are ideal for students planning to obtain professional certification such as the Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

BS in Accounting

The BS in Accounting curriculum is a 122-credit-hour program designed to enhance critical thinking, quantitative analysis, and decision-making. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for entrance into their careers and to provide a foundation for the examination to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or to achieve other professional certifications.

As part of the sequence of courses leading to the BS in Accounting offered through Weatherhead, students take required and elective courses in related fields of banking and finance, economics, marketing, organizational behavior, information systems, management policy and operations.

Integrated Study

Integrated study programs enable students the opportunity to attain a BS in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy (MAcc) degree in five years or less. These programs are strongly recommended for those individuals planning to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam. There are two programs that integrate graduate and undergraduate course work in accountancy: the joint BS in Accounting/MAcc and the accelerated BS in Accounting/MAcc program. More detail about these programs can be found in the general bulletin for Integrated Study requirements or by contacting Tiffany Welch.
