The Global MBA student’s experience is unlike any other at Weatherhead and in management education around the world. While in Cleveland, Jamshedpur, and Shanghai, students have the opportunity to not only immerse themselves in the cultural and social settings, but learn new ways of business management through collaboration with fellow Global MBA students and industry leaders.
The Three Continent Journey
After an initial on-site student orientation in Cleveland, Ohio, Weatherhead students travel to join Xavier School of Management and Tongji students in Shanghai, China, for the first semester. Students begin the cross-continent education by diving right into company-based project work with local leaders of Shanghai’s prominent business sectors.
During the second semester, students travel to India, where the Xavier School of Management’s international student exchange program offers a valuable resource in providing a smooth transition to settling into life in Jamshedpur. In addition to the coursework, this semester promises festival outings and cultural excursions.
By the third semester, all Global MBA students will live and study in Cleveland, Ohio. During this semester students can start to take full advantage of activities organized by the Weatherhead Career Management Office. Students will engage with local business leaders from a variety of industries, which are currently thriving in the United States, through roundtable style mixer events and trips to regional institutions such as the New York Stock Exchange.
In the fourth and final semester, students from SEM-Tongji and Xavier School of Management return to their respective schools while Weatherhead students shift their focus to elective coursework.

Around the Neighborhood
Weatherhead is nestled in the heart of Cleveland and its arts and cultural district — University Circle — students enjoy living, learning, and playing in one of the most concentrated areas of health care, education, and arts and culture in the world. University Circle boasts of 15 museums and cultural institutions like the world-famous Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Museum of Art, four medical centers including the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals, ten religious organizations, more than 30 restaurants, and a total of eight education centers.
Weatherhead is also within walking distance of the city’s “new downtown” called Uptown. Uptown includes emerging favorite spots such as a specialty market, a local ice cream shop, pubs, the campus bookstore, the city’s new Cleveland Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) and casual to fine dining restaurant options.
