Mayor Frank Jackson and the City of Cleveland invited Weatherhead's Fowler Center to lead an Appreciative Inquiry summit August 12-14, 2009, with the goal of shaping a sustainable economy in Cleveland. More than 700 stakeholders attended the event, which commenced a ten-year regional initiative to build a "green city on a blue lake." In 2010 and 2011, Weatherhead remained a key thought partner with the Mayor and the City of Cleveland. The 2011 Sustainable Cleveland 2019 Summit was held in September at the Public Auditorium in downtown Cleveland. The themes were energy efficiency and local food. 2012 is the year of local food.
