After obtaining his BS in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi and his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta — both with honors — Anurag Gupta earned his doctorate in finance at the Stern School of Business at New York University. His regional expertise extends to India as well as Korea and China. He has taught and consulted at several business institutions in these countries and now directs Weatherhead's MSM-Finance program in Shanghai. Gupta’s academic background is complemented by industry experience in management consulting, and he has been nominated on several occasions for the Weatherhead MBA Teaching Excellence Award.
Gupta’s widely published research focuses on quantitative risk modeling, fixed income markets, regulatory issues in the banking industry, credit markets and the development of derivative pricing models. He has pioneered education and research in the new field of “green finance” as he helps companies manage sustainability risks due to climate change and invest in environmentally sensitive and alternative energy-related industries.
